New Porsche to replace royalty's stolen vehicle

SHAH ALAM: A new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S has been ordered to replace the one stolen from a Puspakom centre on March 2.

The vehicle, for a member of the Kelantan royal family, will arrive in five months from Leipzig, Germany, a source said.

The source also disclosed that the thieves who stole the RM1.42 million vehicle were still finding it difficult to dispose of it because it is the first of its kind in the country and one of only six in the world.

There are two older versions of the Cayenne in the country but comparisons are easily made between the older and newer models.

"The fact that there are only five or six of these models worldwide makes it extremely difficult to dispose of the vehicle locally," said the source.
The vehicle is available on the black market for between RM50,000 and RM70,000 but there are no interested buyers.

The vehicle is likely to be still in the country.

The thieves responsible for the incident are linked to the theft of an older version of the Porsche Cayenne in Jalan SS18/1B, Subang Jaya, on Tuesday.

The incident occurred about 4.30pm when a workshop supervisor was inspecting the interior of the purple sport utility vehicle.

A man walked into the workshop and dragged the man out and drove off.

Thanks to Too for the free tix to "Showdown of Champions" featuring Roger Federer, James Blake, John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg. This was my first time watching live tennis and it was great although there were some showboating and fong shui (giving chance). Lastly, the emcee announced that Sharapova is coming next year!

A week earlier, "King of Tennis" which was supposed to be held in Penang was cancelled. Organiser Arianna Teoh has explained it here and PAC is investigating into this.

Thum complained that I haven't been updating my blog. Didn't thought that somebody actually follows my blog. Well, this post is for u. I think I have to be more active in blogging. Even the temporary one-handed Too has also re-created his blog. Man, this guy blogs and types with one hand while he got injured. How can I lose out to him? Haha. Get well soon, dude.

September 21 - 27: This must be the most happening (expensive) week in my musical life. Most of my friends know I'm a concert enthusiast who attends almost every other concert especially Chinese concerts. Now I'm taking it to another level.

I flew to Hong Kong to watch Ayumi Hamasaki with my concert pal Wai Ken. My second time to HK. The first was to watch Sammi's concert last year. We missed out Ayu's world tour last year. This would be a chance of a lifetime. So we decided that its now or never. Furthermore, I still feel the regret of missing out her concert in Tokyo. This concert would be redemption. We chose HK cos tickets for her tour in Taiwan and Shanghai are more expensive.

The price of air ticket was RM700++, almost the same between Air Asia and MAS, so we chose MAS for the obvious reason of better comfort. Stayed at Cosmic Guest House in Tsim Sha Tsui. Anyone who complains that First World Hotel is small, wait until u get to HK. The rooms at budget hotels in HK are just enough to put in the bed and a washroom for u. Anyway, Cosmic was clean, affordable and convenient. We booked the place cos it has a decent website, unlike other guest houses.

Managed to meet up with Nick, who just went there to work for Cathay. Also caught up with my VI classmates Thaw and Kam Fatt.

Went to Macau to look for my pal Ganesh who's working at Venetian Macau. Lost a lot of money while gambling there. Luckily I managed to recover all my losses at Genting when I went there for Sammi's Show Mi Again concert, an extension from her Show Mi tour last year. She's back again to Malaysia for her second concert after one year, which is great for the fans cos she's not having second concerts in other countries even in HK.

Our PM uses a Proton Perdana, but some 'keh leh feh' (small fry) in Terengganu use the Mercedes. PM told them not to use the Mercs, but they still do. Lim Guan Eng says, "This is an example of how public funds are misused by Barisan Nasional leaders."

Why Some People Have All The Luck

Why do some people get all the luck while others never get the breaks they deserve?A psychologist says he has discovered the answer.Ten years ago, I set out to examine luck. I wanted to know why some people are always in the right place at the right time, while others consistently experience ill fortune.

I placed advertisements in national newspapers asking for people who felt consistently lucky or unlucky to contact me.Hundreds of extraordinary men and women volunteered for my research and over the years, I have interviewed them, monitored their lives and had them take part in experiments.

The results reveal that although these people have almost no insight into the causes of their luck, their thoughts and behaviour are responsible for much of their good and bad fortune. Take the case of seemingly chance opportunities. Lucky people consistently encounter such opportunities, whereas unlucky people do not.I carried out a simple experiment to discover whether this was due to differences in their ability to spot such opportunities. I gave both lucky and unlucky people a newspaper, and asked them to look through it and tell me how many photographs were inside.

I had secretly placed a large message halfway through the newspaper saying: "Tell the experimenter you have seen this and win $50."This message took up half of the page and was written in type that was more than two inches high. It was staring everyone straight in the face, but the unlucky people tended to miss it and the lucky people tended to spot it.Unlucky people are generally more tense than lucky people, and this anxiety disrupts their ability to notice the unexpected.As a result, they miss opportunities because they are too focused on looking for something else. They go to parties' intent on finding their perfect partner and so miss opportunities to make good friends. They look through newspapers determined to find certain types of job advertisements and miss other types of jobs.Lucky people are more relaxed and open, and therefore see what is there rather than just what they are looking for.

My research eventually revealed that lucky people generate good fortune via four principles. They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good.Towards the end of the work, I wondered whether these principles could be used to create good luck. I asked a group of volunteers to spend a month carrying out exercises designed to help them think and behave like a lucky person.Dramatic results! These exercises helped them spot chance opportunities, listen to their intuition, expect to be lucky, and be more resilient to bad luck.

One month later, the volunteers returned and described what had happened.

The results were dramatic: 80% of people were now happier, more satisfied with their lives and, perhaps most important of all, luckier.The lucky people had become even luckier and the unlucky had become lucky.Finally, I had found the elusive "luck factor".Here are Professor

Wiseman's four top tips for becoming lucky:

1) Listen to your gut instincts - they are normally right

2) Be open to new experiences and breaking your normal routine

3) Spend a few moments each day remembering things that went well

4) Visualize yourself being lucky before an important meeting or telephone call.

Fuel prices put brakes on ‘rempit’

GEORGE TOWN: The higher fuel price has got its benefits, too – no more mat rempit.

Just ask Tanjong Tokong and Tanjung Bungah residents who, after a long time, can finally get a good night’s sleep over the weekends.

One of them, businessman H.H. Ang, 47, said the “ear-splitting” noise of motorcycles racing in front of his apartment had ceased.

“My family now sleeps soundly on Saturdays and Sundays. This is the only good to have come out of the fuel increase.”

Betty Ong, 72, said her twin grandsons used to wake up crying in the wee hours with the revving of machines, adding that the boys now slept uninterrupted.

“Now, they sleep like babies.”

Engineer Lim Yong Keat, 45, who used to stand by the roadside to watch the illegal racers, said the mat rempit used to race about 20 to 30 rounds before the increase in fuel prices.

“If at all they do now, it only lasts a couple of rounds,” he said.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Azam Abd Hamid agreed that the mat rempit activities in the district had almost been halved.

“They used to gather by the hundreds,” he said.

Thieves siphon off petrol

KLANG: Cars parked in housing areas have become the frequent target of thieves now, not for valuables, but for petrol.

Teluk Pulai Residents Association chairman Loo Hock Chai said petrol was the new target following the recent fuel price hike.

“At least 20 residents from five housing estates have complained about the theft this month. The thieves come out after midnight and look for cars parked outside the terrace houses,” he said.

A resident from Taman A & M Toh Chong Hoo, a 50-year-old businessman, said his Proton Iswara parked outside his house was broken into on Sunday, but no money was taken, only the jack.

After spending more than RM100 to fix the broken window, Toh said he lost about RM100 of petrol the next day.

“I was shocked to find out my car petrol tank was empty when I tried to start the engine to go to work at 7am.

“A big patch of petrol stain was seen underneath my car and the nut of the petrol tank was on top of the bonnet.

“I filled up the car the night earlier before returning home,” he said.

Meanwhile, Loo said residents could not sleep well despite having community patrol team every night.

Most of the victims did not lodge police report, thinking it would not help them to recover their losses, he said.

He also urged residents to be careful and park their vehicles within their house compound if possible.

Loo said community patrols had spotted suspicious people roaming their neighbourhood but could not do anything as they did not have the authority to check on anyone.

“Two weeks ago, a few people saw a man squatting behind a car with a can underneath the car and a tank next to him while another man was waiting on a motorcycle.

“The men took the tank and jumped on the motorbike and escaped when the residents approached them,” he said.

Loo also urged the police to do more patrols around his neighbourhood.
